This project involved the installation of CFA bearing piles to enable construction work to begin on an eight-storey mixed use development, creating a prestigious new gateway to the town centre.
Part of the development is used for a new Jury’s Inn commissioned by the Jurys Doyle hotel group, with the remainder providing a number of luxury apartments.
FK Lowry installed a total of 152no 600mm diameter bearing piles to depths of up to 23 metres using a high torque CFA piling rig to penetrate layers of rock through stiff clays. The site team also carried out a series of static load tests in addition to 100% integrity testing.
