FK Lowry Piling, part of the Lagan Construction Group of companies, played host to over 50 consultant engineers and contractors at a recent Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Seminar in Manchester city centre on Thursday 3rd March.
The event held at the Hilton Hotel, Deansgate saw attendance of consultants and contractors from a range of companies including WSP, Hochtief, Ramboll, GHD Livigunn, Carillion, Ferrovial, ROC, Costain and Civic Engineers.
The seminar was held just yards from a location where FK Lowry Piling are currently installing over 200 No. Rotary & CFA Piles for Carillion at their prestigious First St. Development in Manchester city centre. Following the event, the clients were invited to the site to view the installation of 600mm Dia. Piles using Soilmec SF-65 and Soilmec R-622 Piling Rigs.
“The First St. Development in Manchester is a high profile project for us. We are working for one of our key Clients in a high profile City Centre Environment using a combination of Rotary & CFA Piles. The Site is a Brownfield Site which was remediated approximately 8 years ago. However, the nature of the remediated material means that “Bulbs “ of cementitious material are expected within the Made Ground/Fill Material. Here, we propose to overcome these deposits using the high torque R-622 Piling Rig and form Rock Sockets into the underlying Sandstone Bedrock.”FK Lowry Piling’s Contracts Manager, Sam Pyper
