Northern Ireland Water and Lagan Construction Group’s female staff are ‘Walking for Water’ to celebrate World Water Day on 22 March and raise awareness of the plight of millions of women and children worldwide who can spend up to 60% of each day walking just to collect safe, clean drinking water.
WaterAid is working in some of the world’s poorest countries, providing almost 17.5 million people with safe water and12.9 million people with sanitation. However, nearly 900 million people worldwide still don’t have access to safe drinking water and every 20 seconds a child dies from lack of access to clean water.
